Unified English Braille Australian training manual

About these guidelines

The UEB training manual provides a comprehensive and practical resource to support both new and experienced learners of braille across Australia. Developed to align with the Unified English Braille (UEB) code, these guidelines aim to strengthen knowledge, build consistency, and support high-quality braille literacy. The manual reflects a careful review of the relevant UEB documentation and brings together clear explanations, structured learning pathways and accessible formatting to assist teachers, transcribers and professionals working with people who use braille.

This manual revised in 2022 is a series of lessons and practice exercises by which teachers, transcribers and parents can learn UEB. The 2022 edition is an update of the 2013, 2014 and 2016 editions with some changes as listed in this Word file.

This manual is available to download from the Round Table’s OneDrive account: UEB Australian Training Manual (link opens in a new tab)
