Announcing the Recipient of the 2025 Tammy Axelsen Lifetime Achievement Award

We were honoured to present the Tammy Axelsen Lifetime Achievement Award (TALAA) to Neil Jarvis, a pioneer and tireless advocate for digital accessibility.

Neil has dedicated over 30 years to advancing accessibility, and his work has left an enduring impact on individuals, organisations, and policies — not just locally, but globally. From building transcription services and teaching accessibility technologies in the UK, to serving on the board of the British Computer Association of the Blind, Neil has consistently championed practical, transformative change for people who are blind or have low vision.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Neil has been a key figure in the World Blind Union (WBU), most notably as the regional representative in the global campaign to adopt and implement the Marrakesh Treaty — a landmark international agreement facilitating access to published works for people with print disabilities.

As President of the Round Table on Information Access for People with Print Disabilities, Neil played a critical role in initiating dialogue with leading publishing bodies across Australia and New Zealand, helping pave the way for more inclusive publishing practices.

This award celebrates Neil’s extraordinary service, leadership, and enduring commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Please join us in congratulating him on this outstanding and well-deserved recognition.
